The Difference Between Resin Bound & Resin Bonded
Resin Bound systems and Resin Bonded systems are two distinct types of resin driveway surfacing systems that may sound similar due to the use of resin and aggregates, but they have significant differences in their installation, appearance, and performance.
Installation: In Resin Bound surfaces aggregates are mixed before being laid to create a smooth seamless finish. In a Resin Bonded system loose aggregates are scattered on resin which creates a textured, non-porous surface.
Permeability: Resin Bound systems are porous, allowing water to drain through the surface and into the ground, making them a good option for managing surface water runoff and reducing the risk of flooding. Resin Bonded systems, on the other hand, are non-porous, as the loose aggregates are only partially embedded in the resin, resulting in reduced permeability.
Durability: Resin Bound systems are generally considered more durable and are better suited for heavy traffic areas, as the fully encapsulated aggregates provide greater resistance to wear and tear.
Maintenance: Resin Bound systems typically require less maintenance, as the smooth, seamless surface is resistant to weed growth and easy to clean - providing a better option for your landscaping needs.
